My art career started with music at the Ankara State Conservatory in Ankara, Turkey. After moving to the U.S. as a teenager, I continued studying music. But throughout my childhood, my passion remained in the visual arts. Ever since I was a little kid, I have been fascinated by the paintings of Miro, Kandinsky, Caravaggio and Vermeer. These artists have influenced me greatly in my current pursuits.
When I was 16, my family moved from Turkey to Texas. Some years later, I received a business degree from Texas Tech University and worked for over 15 years in the corporate world.
Now, at 42, I have decided to make another life-changing move. I am pursuing photography as a profession.

Since the purchase of my first dlsr in 2007, photography has been my primary artistic medium. My camera serves as a tool to capture the most important moments in life. It has taken me around the globe in the pursuit of these moments and allowed me to build relationships with people as diverse as they come.

Photography marries the visual arts with the sensory experience, like music and painting combined.

I invite you to be part of this journey with me. Welcome to Osman Tavilson Photography.
